The Avengers

This is pretty much everything that you want from a superhero movie. This movie is pretty much all good stuff. When you have 5 movies coming together to make one giant mega movie, it's pretty much a recipe for awesome.

So obviously you got Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye being led by Nick Fury and Shield. This movie is every comic book nerds dream. The only problem is, you kind of need to see of all the individual movies leading up to it to really appreciate it. But any fan of this movie probably already has. The premise is pretty simple. Thor's brother Loki joined forces with somebody who is also not from this planet. The unknown evil doer wants the energy source known as the Teseract and Loki wants to rule the planet. Because his brother made sure that he couldn't rule on his home planet. So Loki comes to Earth and starts causing a ruckus so The Avenger's get assembled. Now there's a little more to it than that obviously but I don't want to give anything away. My favorite parts are when the team start to turn on each other. Each one has a set of abilities that think can trump the other. And then when the Hulk gets angry, and you don't want to make him angry. My favorite parts of the movie are the fight scenes that the Avenger's have between each other. Their funny, action packed and your rooting for both sides. The scene in which The Hulk fights Thor is awesome!

This movie is freakin great. You have a ton of action, sweet special effects, comedy, and big named actors filling a movie that was 4 years in the making. I couldn't get enough. If your into any of the comic books, or are a fan of action movies, then this is the movie for you. The Avengers is everything you want and more. Watch this movie! Yes indeed.

Battleship

So I got a bunch of laughs when I told people I wanted to see this movie. I didn't really know what to expect. But it's exactly what you would think. The best word that I could use to describe it is.......cheesy.

The acting is sub par, the aliens aren't scary at all, and I'm still not sure if I understand the story. There are some cool parts. The graphics are sweet, and some of the action scenes mixed with some intense music makes you forget that your watching a cheesy movie. The basic story is aliens come to the planet and need to use something that NASA has come up with. So they set up shop in the middle of the ocean right where the navy are playing war games. They come across this ship and the aliens defend themselves? Or they attack? I'm still not sure. It's confusing. Anyways, there are some good parts. The biggest question that I had before watching was how would they incorporate the board game into the movie. Well there is this one scene where they figure out how to track the alien ship. They can't get to close because then they're toast. So they have to stay far enough away. So they locate the alien craft on this grid and take their best shot. Just like the board game. Other than that, there is not much else going on.

There are a lot of cheesy scenes in this movie, but if you can get past that, then its fun. If you decide to not watch this movie, then your not missing much.

Lockout

So this will be a quick entry. I watched this the other day and I had fun watching it. Lockout is Luc Besson produced movie starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. It is a quick 90 minute movie about the President's daughter going to visit the floating prison in outer space and what happens? Well, the prisoners get loose somehow and now have the first daughter as a hostage. So they send in the Ex-CIA operative, former agent Snow. So the key to watching this movie and having a good time with it is remembering that when they intended on making this movie, I'm pretty sure they didn't have the word Oscar in mind. So if you remember that it's just a movie and that it is supposed to be fun, then it becomes a fun movie.

So there is some good and some bad to this movie. The bad parts include, some not so good graphics, some cheesy lines and an ending that kinda makes you go.....cmon! However, the good parts include an easy plot, the cheesy lines and some fun action scenes. The plot is kind of like an Escape From New York meets The Transporter. It's a Luc Besson movie so it gets right to the point. Guy Pearce's character Snow has sarcastic attitude and delivers some great one-liners. An then when you add that to a bunch of convicted felons, some of which were kind of bad ass, looking to get out of jail, you get 90 minutes of awesome. Well.....maybe not awesome, how about......a good time.

I didn't like the graphics or one part towards the end but i had a good time watching this movie. The comedy mixed with quick action and an original story made for a fun movie night. Check it out if you want. Yup dop!

The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises

This entry is well overdue and I apologize to anyone who actually follows this thing. I've seen this movie twice now. And each viewing was amazing. If I was to pick one word to describe this movie, it would be......EPIC! Or Legendary or unbelievable, or the best superhero movie in the history? Yes to all! This movie was awesome in every sense of the word. This will probably enter my Top 5 of all time.

So I was waiting for this movie to come out since 2008. The Dark Knight left such an impact on people that this movie was easily one of the most anticipated movies in the last 10 years. With the death of Heath Ledger, everyone was curious as to where Christopher Nolan was going to bring the story. And he didn't disappoint. He was able to bring the last installment in the series to an end but do it in classic Christopher Nolan fashion. He ended it but leaves everyone wanting more.

The story take place 8 years from the end of The Dark Knight. We see Bruce Wayne totally secluded in his rebuilt mansion. He is awakened after a cat burglar, played by Anne Hathaway. He starts to bring himself back to life only to find that his company is starting to go under and a threat has been introduced to the city of Gotham. The story itself is not complex, but has a lot of pieces to it so I won't go too much into detail because all of the pieces make up one hell of a film, and I don't want to give anything away.

The villain in the movie is Bane played by Tom Hardy and he is set to finish what Liam Neeson started in Batman Begins. This character is so awesome and Tom Hardy kills it! His presence on screen is so overpowering! The character is a trained fighter so he tests Batman more physically than ever before. Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle or "Catwoman" even though the name Catwoman never gets mentioned any time during the film. Now Anne Hathaway wasn't the first name that came in my mind for the role, and when I heard she got casted, I really wasn't super excited about it. But hr performance in this move was perfect. She was sexy, funny and a bad ass all at the same time. She was a surprising bonus. And it doesn't hurt that she is nice to look at. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays police officer John Blake. He shows that he is such a good actor and add that certain supporting feature that is needed for a movie of this magnitude. And Christian Bale and Gary Oldman reprise their roles as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Commissioner Gordon.

The Dark Knight Rises is the perfect ending to the Dark Knight Trilogy. Christopher Nolan writes this in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and leaves you wanting more when it's done. Now the big question that will probably always be a debate, is that is this movie better than the Dark Knight? I don't have the answer to that question. I like the story better in the Dark Knight Rises but Heath Ledger's performance in the Dark Knight is so unbelievable, it makes this question practically impossible. Batman Begins is based around fear. The Dark Knight revolves around chaos and the Dark Knight Rises is all about pain. Each one was written so perfectly with unforgettable performances and non stop action that it doesn't matter which one is better. All that matters is that each movie is amazing and I'm sad to see the end, but I am more than satisfied because The Dark Knight Rises was the perfect ending to one of the greatest trilogies ever. Yes indeed.

Mercy

Don't give up
I know you can see
All the world and the mess that we're making
Can't give up
And hope God will intercede
Come on back
Imagine that
We could get it together

Stand up for where we need to be
Cause crying save or feed a hungry child
Can't lay down
Wait for a miracle to change things
Lift up your eyes
Lift up your heart
Singing

Mercy, will we overcome this?
One by one, could we just turn it around?
Maybe...carry on just a little bit longer
And I'll try to give you what you need

Me and you and you and you
Just wanna be free yeah
But you see
All the world is just as we've made it
And until we got a new world I gotta say
Love is not a whisper or a weakness
No, love is strong
Now we've gotta get it together
Gotta get, gotta get, gotta get
Til there is no reason to fight

Mercy, will we overcome this?
One by one, could we just turn it around?
Maybe...carry on just a little bit longer
And I'll try to give you what you need

Mercy, will we overcome this?
Have we come to far to turn it around?
Is it ask too much to be a little bit stronger
Cause I wanna give you what you need

Mercy, what will become of us?
One by one, could we just turn it around?
Maybe...carry on just a little bit longer
And I'll try to give you what you need
