Gary Oldman
Gary Oldman is my July pick for the under appreciated actor. Some of my friends have recommended him to be on my list for a while now. So, I listened. Oldman is incredibly under appreciated. He has been in so many great roles and has only been nominated once for a Oscar. Which is such a travesty. Oldman is the man. Especially when he gets a chance to do a villain or "bad guy" role. He was awesome in "The Professional"! Check out some of his more memorable roles:
- Sid and Nancy
- JFK
- Dracula
- True Romance
- Leon: The Professional
- The Scarlett Letter
- The Fifth Element
- Air Force One
- Lost in Space
- Hannibal
- Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows : Part 2
- The Book of Eli
- Red Riding Hood
- Kung Fu Panda (voice)
- Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
- Batman Begins
- The Dark Knight
- The Dark Knight Rises
Gary Oldman has been named, "my favorite actor" by other actors such as Tom Hardy and Alexander Skaarsgard. He is the man, and needs to be recognized more. I get excited for Gary Oldman movies and I know others do to. So from all of us here at The Yes Indeed Papers (and by all of us, I mean just me), Gary Oldman.....we salute you! Yes Indeed.
So.......I have to print a retraction. After watching 21 Jump Street, I have to give it up to Channing Tatum.
I used to think that he was a bad actor. While some people may think that's still true, I have to hand it to him. He was absolutely hilarious in 21 Jump Street! I now have a new found respect for Channing Tatum and hope to see more comedy roles like this one from him.
I also would like to make a formal retraction and remove him from my Top 5 Worst Actors. He is officially being replaced by Beyonce. While she is extremely talented, and an amazing performer, she is such a bad actress. I'm actually a little upset with my self that I forgot her the first time around. So here is the new list of the Top 5 Worst Actors:
1). Paul Walker
2). Jessica Alba
3). Dane Cook
4). Beyonce
5). Megan Fox
So there's my retraction. Channing Tatum.....I apologize. Yes indeed.
So I was told to watch this one when it was out in theaters but i never got around to it. So I waited until it was out on DVD. I recently watched it and oh man.......this movie was absolutely hilarious!
To take a wannabe drama TV show from the 80's and make a comedy movie out of it was brilliant. It was funny from start to finish. I didn't know what to think when I first heard that it was coming out. I kind of had low expectations. This movie was one of the funniest movies that i have seen in a long time. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum made the perfect duo for this movie. They fill out the roles of brainy and brawny to a T. Now I'll be the first to admit that Channing Tatum would not have been my first choice for this movie. I actually ranked him the 5th worst actor a few entries ago. However, after watching this movie.....I might need to write a retraction about him. He was hilarious. And you couldn't have picked anyone better than Jonah Hill to play opposite him. They knew each other when they were in high school and they both decide to join the police academy at the same time. Tatum can do everything physical, and Hill can do everything intellectual. They basically can do everything the other can't. So they decide to become friends and rest is magic.
To not give anything away, Tatum and Hill are picked to play High school students because of the fact that they look young. They have to infiltrate and find the source of a new drug that's been making it's way around the school. There are some absolute outrageous, pee in your pants scenes! And it's rated R (thank god). So the language and content is just what you would want.
If you were a fan of the 80's TV show.... if your a fan of Channing Tatum......if your a fan of down right, laugh out loud, Rated R comedy movies......then watch 21 Jump Street because it is so worth it. Funny, funny, good good stuff. Yes indeed.
Watched this one recently. I don't have too much to say about it except.....it was all right.
Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston lose their jobs in New York City and have to go live Rudd's brother. And on the way there, they spend the night at a bed & breakfast called Elysium, which is a free love, hippy community, and they fall in love with it. They decide to stay and it turns out to be not what they expect. Sort of. Without giving anything away, Rudd and Aniston's marriage experience some troubled waters.
Wanderlust has a little bit of good and a little bit of bad. It's rated R so there is a lot of adult type of awkward situations which makes for some great comedy. Paul Rudd is always hilarious and it's a original story. However, the storyline of the movie goes from great to.....eh. The first half of the movie is hilarious. But I am not a fan of the second half of the movie. There are some parts of the story that just don't need to be there. And I wasn't a huge fan of the ending. I think they could have written it a different way and still had the same result. Watch the movie and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Overall, Wanderlust is good, but not great. It's definitely funny and some outrageous parts. But story wise, I was not impressed. But it's still good for some laughs and it did entertain me. So I guess I can't be too disappointed. Yes indeed.
