8 Movies, 8 Reviews

So its been a while. I had some recent technical difficulties which prevented me from making any entries. So my apologies to any one who actually follows this thing..
With that out of the way, in order to catch up, I've decided to play "catch up" and make one big entry. 8 movies, 8 quick reviews. And here we...go!

1). Warrior -
This movie was unbelievable! It flew right under the radar due to the whole UFC/MMA angle, and the fact that the cast was relatively unknown. However, this movie is one of the best movies that I've seen in a really long time. 2 estranged brothers enter into a MMA tournament only to wind up in the final match together! Beautiful acting, a great script and some really intense scenes make Warrior my vote for the best movie of 2011! I'm actually surprised at myself for not giving Warrior it's own entry. You know what....I think I'll do that.

2). In Time -
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Mainly for the simple fact that it's an original idea! In the future, you don't age past 25, and if you have enough time, you can live forever. Time is like money and when you run out of time, you run out of life. I mean, original right? Timberlake gives a good performance in this futuristic thriller. My only complaint is that they didn't do more with it. The could have done more action scenes and a better ending, but overall, it was good.

3).The Change Up -
The premise has been done before. Two people who have different personalities switch bodies. However, they have never done a Rated R version of it. And after watching it, I'm glad they did it. A raunchy, bad language comedy that is extremely funny. Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds kill it. Just watch it!

4). Super 8 -
Loved
it. I thought it was another original movie from Writer/Director J.J. Abrams. He brought a little of his own childhood to the big screen. Making movies with a super 8 camera, a group of young kids discover something that could not only change their lives, but end it. Abrams used a young talented cast and the way he shot the movie, made you feel like you were watching a movie from your childhood. I don't know if that makes sense, but watch it and you'll get it. My only complaint is the reveal of the "monster", was a little disappointing. But overall, this was a great movie!

5). Cowboys and Aliens -
Didn't love it. But I didn't hate it. Still not entirely sure of the plot, but it's still fun to watch. I wasn't a huge fan of the aliens, but they were different and it's still a fun movie.

6). Friends With Benefits -
I loved this movie. I thought it was hilarious. Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis are perfect together. The reason that this romantic comedy is so good? It's Rated R! So you have the adult humor that is neccesary for the plot. I loved this movie. A perfect movie for this years Valentines day.

7). Rise of the Planet of the Apes -
I didn't think I was going to like this movie, but I loved it. The story was great, the acting was good and it tied everything in with the older movies. The real reason that this movie is good, is the capture-motion technology that they did. They role of Caesar was played by a real person. Now, obviously they used special effects for the final cut, but the facial expressions, the movements and the emotion that was neccesary for this movie was done remarkably by actor Andy Serkis. The story involves a scientist trying to find a cure for alzheimers and accidentally makes a sirum that enhances the brain function of apes. There's a lot more to it than that, but I didn't want to give anything away. Watch it. Great movie.

8). Real Steel -
Loved it, loved, loved it! It's Rocky with robots. Instead of boxing, they use robots. Hugh Jackman is a down on his luck bot fighter and needs money bad. But instead, he gets his son who's mother just died and he and the kid come across the junk robot who actually might be the big break that both were looking for. The movie was great and again, an original story....for the most part. Anyways, one of the better movies that I've seen in a while.

So
there we are. 8 movies, 8 reviews. I recomend all of these for a movie night. Check em out....yes indeed!
