The Following Movie is Rated R

Have you noticed that there aren't really anymore R rated movies any more? It really kind of stops at PG-13. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but some times, I wish a certain PG-13 and PG movies were Rated R.

Now, the studio/producers have the very good reason to make a movie PG-13 or lower. By doing that, they make it more open for a younger audience, thus making a bigger net profit. I get it. But, sometimes a great idea for a movie needs to have that higher rating in order to make the movie better. A good example is the movie Kick-Ass. A great movie. Rated R and Rated R for a reason. There is a whole lot of violence and a whole lot of cursing, (especially from an 11 year old girl) that make the movie awesome. If this movie was Rated PG-13, it would have been horrible, and if you saw that movie you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Here are some examples of movies that would have been so much better if they were Rated R.

G.I. Joe

Terminator Salvation

Any of the Mission Impossible Movies

Live Free or Die Hard

Where these movies are really good, imagine if they were Rated R. GI Joe would have broken necks instead of 0% blood. Terminator Salvation could have lived up to to the same style as the first two. Tom Cruise would have looked like a bad ass and John McClane would have killed some guys and said something cool afterwards. Call me whatever you want but I like the extra cursing and the show of blood and cool ways for bad guys to die. Its what makes certain movies awesome. Probably the reason that Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance are the best in the series. There's a certain adult content/maturity that makes it better. Its meant for adults, and sometimes for good reason. It could be a better movie.

I think there needs to be more movies that are Rated R. The younger audience can wait until they are old enough. I had to.

The Top 5 / High Fidelity

So I watched this 2 hour special on ABC the other night. It was titled "The Best in Film", and it listed the top 5 movies that were voted the favorite by a country wide vote. It was pretty cool actually. Not only did they show the top 5 best films in history but they showed the top 5 best action movies, the top 5 best sci-fi movies, the top 5 characters, and the top 5 best lines from movies. Now I have no problem with the selections that were voted the best in each category. The problem that I have is that I don't think anyone knows where the top 5 originated from.

John Cusack owns The Top 5. Its from the movie High Fidelity. John plays "Rob", the owner of his own Record store. Him and his friends will come up with the Top 5 songs to listen to on a Monday morning. The Top 5 worst breakups, the Top 5 Track 2's, side 2's. The list keeps going and going. There's more to the movie then just that. The movie pretty much revolves around the break up of Cusack and his girlfriend. He tries to get her back throughout the entire movie and talks to the camera about his problems. It's such a good movie! So if you haven't seen it yet, watch it. Its probably the perfect guy film, and Cusack is one of the writers of it.

The Top 5 is from the movie High Fidelity, yes indeed.

Top 5 Charlie Sheen Movies

So real quick, in honor of Charlie Sheen going bonkers and showing up in the spotlight as a nut job, I figured we would do a quick Top 5 of what I think are his best movies.

1) Major League - No question about it. "The Wild Thing", California Penal League, cut off sleeves, I mean cmon. His best role but only this one, not the second one, that one doesn't count.

2) Hot Shots / Hot Shots part deux - Sheen really found his niche with these "parody" movies. Probably one of few movies that the sequel might be better than the original. Hilarious!

3) Eight Men Out - Great movie and great baseball movie as well.

4) Platoon - Great war movie by Oliver Stone. Good narrations by Sheen as well.

5) Ferris Bueller's Day Off - He only had a small part but it's awesome. "What are you in for?" "Drugs."

So there we go, just a quick list. Coming Soon...Top 5 Sequels that are better than the original.

Due Date

So I recently watched Due Date. It wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be. It wasn't bad. I don't think it ranks up there with The Hangover and Wedding Crashers but there was some funny parts.

The characters in comedies like these are never really defined. I couldn't tell if Robert Downey Jr.'s character was a Jackass or just a regular guy getting annoyed at irregular situations. And I couldn't tell if Zach Galifinakis's character was rude, dumb, high or if there was some sort of chemical imbalance wrong with him. Also, if I was trying to get home to my pregnant wife who's due date was like 4 days away and this one guy kept it nearly impossible for me to get home (including shooting me), I would have probably left him for dead. But it definitely had some funny parts, and it tried to be funny all the way through which is what you want from a comedy.

Ultimately, I think it's a remake of Plane's Trains and Automobile's, just not as funny. Hopefully, it's one of those movies you like better the 2ND time. Yup Yup
