The Gospel according to Big Fish

So I recently had surgery and I was off work for about 2 months. And in that time, I watched a lot of movies. And one of the movies I watched was Big Fish. A Tim Burton masterpiece to say the least. But I had a better appreciation for it after I watched it this last time. The movie is filled with these great lines that can actually build some inspiration inside of you. So here are some excerpts from the movie Big Fish:

"Kept in a small bowl, the goldfish will remain small. With more space, the fish will grow double, triple, or quadruple it's size. - It occurred to me then, that perhaps the reason for my growth was that I was intended for larger things. After all, a giant man can't have an ordinary sized life"

"Now there comes a point when a reasonable man will swallow his pride and admit he's made a terrible mistake. The truth is, I was never a reasonable man."

"How you gonna make it without your shoes?" - "Well I suspect it will hurt...a lot."

"That night I reached two conclusions. The first was that a dangerous path is made much worse by darkness. The second is that I was hopelessly and irrevocably lost. These woods would become my graveyard. As difficult as it was to reach Spectre, I was fated to get there eventually. After all, no man can avoid reaching the end of his life. And then I realized, this wasn't the end of my life. - This isn't how I die."

"What happened to your shoes?" - " They kinda got ahead of me"

"Forget it kid, don't waste your time, she's outta your league." - "What do you mean, you don't even know me." - Sure I do, you were hot shit back in Hickville, but here in the real world you got squat! You don't have a plan, you don't have a job, you don't have anything but the clothes on your back. You were a big fish in a small pond but this here is the ocean, and your drowning! Take my advice, go back to Puddleville you'll be happy there. - Now you say I don't have a plan. I'm gonna find that girl and marry her and spend the rest of my life with her. And I don't have a job, but I would if you gave me one. And I may not have much, but I have more determination than any man your likely to meet"

"You become what you always were...a very big fish"

"A man tell his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way, he becomes immortal"

Theres some good stuff in those words. Some inspirational stuff that my friends have said to me in a way. So I think that if everyone lived their lives with a little bit of those words behind them, then that's pretty good.
