Labels

There are some people who when are in relationships, don't like any sort of label to define them. They don't want to be somebodies girlfriend, somebodies boyfriend, husband, wife and even significant other. I never understood this.

For me, I was always the hopeless romantic. I loved being somebodies boyfriend. Assuming that the other person wanted to be in a relationship, I was in. I loved defining a relationship. Are we dating? Are we exclusive? Am I your boyfriend? Are you my girlfriend? I think that these are questions that should be answered. Now not everyone is going to agree with this. In fact I know several people who believe just the opposite. They don't want any label defining who they are. I don't get it. And I'm not going to start. Because I've never believed that way of thinking. I think that the more labels you put on a relationship, the better. That way, everything is clear and understood. But then what about love? Is love considered a label? Can you put a label on love? Or should you? Is that why its called falling in love? Because you fall into a category? Because love is in fact a label. Love is the term for something when you feel absolutely overcome with happy emotion. I guess that's a good way to put it. So in that case....when you fall in love, you fall into a label. You become labeled "in love". But I think that anyone who is willing to say that they are in love, they should be accepting to labels. To being somebodies something. I am in fact somebodies husband. I love being a husband. I love having the ring on my finger and having a marriage certificate. Which when you think about it, is a label.

I like labels. I think labels are a good thing. That way, you know where you stand. You know who you are and you know what direction you're heading. And the best part is, it has nothing to do with how you act as a human being and doesn't limit your potential for any opportunities that present themselves. I like labels, but not everyone does and that's OK. That's just the way it should be ya see.

My Top 5 Favorite TV Shows

So here are my Top 5 favorite TV shows of all time.

1) - Dawson's Creek - I get made fun of a lot for loving this show, but I don't care. I love it. It came out just as I started high school. It was kinda cheesy, got kinda dumb towards the end but I still own all the seasons on DVD. The music was awesome and I even got to go to the spot where it was filmed. I always wanted to be Pasey but I am the Dawson. I don't know why but I love this show.

2) - The Office - I have all the seasons of this show on DVD as well. I think its the funniest show on TV. Steve Carrell is awesome, the story lines are flippin hilarious and the characters are even better. I'm bummed that Steve Carrell is leaving the show but the story leading up to it will be awesome.

3) - How I Met Your Mother - Might be tied with The Office as the funniest show on TV but in my list, its #3. I can literally sit down with a buddy and talk forever about the episodes and incidents of this show. The slap bet, slapsgiving, revenge of the slap, the crazy/hot scale, Robin Sparkles, crazy eyes, the use of the word awesome. The list goes on. God I love this show. I'm excited for how they reveal how Ted actually met the mother. Its going to be Legend...wait for it and I hope your not lactose intolerant because the second half of the word is....dary!

4) - Grey's Anatomy - I have all the seasons of this show too. My wife and I love this show. The story lines got kinda dull there in the middle but they're starting to get really good. And the finale of this last season where they guy was walkin around shooting people...my god...I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Good stuff.

5) - The Big Bang Theory / Friends - This last spot is a tie between Big Bang Theory and Friends. I can't decide between the two. The Big Bang Theory is awesome but Friends has some classic stuff. Too hard to decide so its a tie. Its my list and I can do that.

So there's my Top 5 favorite TV shows of all time. Feel free to leave your Top 5. Yes Indeed!

Top 5 Favorite Actors (Not All Time)

So here are my Top 5 favorite actors. Not my favorite actors of all time. That might be a little too hard (that's what she said). These are actors currently making movies pretty regularly.

1). Steve Carrell - The Office, Bruce Almighty, 40 Year Old Virgin, get Smart, Date Night.....the guy is hilarious. And he's just such a fun guy. I want to go have a beer with him or somethin....ya know. Good stuff. (Sucks that he's leaving The Office)

2). Leonardo Dicaprio - He's been killin it lately. Blood Diamond, The Departed, Shutter Island, Inception. And his early stuff is freakin great too. He's a solid actor. Hard to believe he hasn't won a Oscar yet.

3). Johnny Depp - Johnny Depp is the man. I loved all the Pirates' movies, and he freakin delivers in any role. Hard to believe he hasn't won an Oscar yet either. Whats the deal with that. My friend Ellen would put him #1 but on my list, he's 3....sorry Ellen.

4). Matt Damon - This guy tears it up in any role he's in. Those Bourne movies were awesome as hell. And he's funny too. Cool guy.

5). Joseph Gordon-Levitt - I absolutely fell in love with 500 Days of Summer and he was bad ass in Inception. And freakin 3rd Rock from the Sun cmon.Watch for this guy. Good things are to come.

So there's my list, leave yours in the comments. Remember its not all time, its current. Yes Indeed!

Honorable Mentions - Will Smith, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Edward Norton, Anton Yelchin, Robert Downey Jr.

Inception

HOLY S***! This movie blew me away. There is so much going on with this movie that I don't even know if I can fit it in to a blog.....but I'll try.

So Christopher Nolan does it again and delivers. This is by far his best work. There is so much story to this that I was on information overload and yet was still able to follow along. The idea is that while your sleeping other people can infiltrate your mind and extract information from it. Now there is a lot more that goes into it but that is the basic idea. The idea behind inception is that instead of retrieving information, you plant an idea adjusting a person's whole belief structure. And that is where the movie goes. The writing that went into this movie is almost beyond comprehension. Nolan's story goes from whoa....to unreal.....to holy s***. A dream within a dream within a dream within a dream. My mind was mesmerized and I kinda felt like I was high or something. And the effects make you feel like the building in which you are watching the movie is going to start turning on itself. This movie was absolutely amazing! And Leonardo DiCaprio tore it up in this one. He's definitely on the list for my top 5 favorite actors (coming soon). And Joesph Gordon-Levitt was also rockin the s*** in this one. Fighting someone without gravity, nasty! He's also on that top 5 list.

Go see this movie and try to see it in the theater, the feeling you get is that of dreaming. I probably need to update my Top 5 favorite movies cause this one will be in it. Watch this movie and check out Christopher Nolan's other movies. He's writes and directs all of them. Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception.

God this movie was so good.....yes in-freaking-deed!

Top 5 Chick Flicks for Dudes

So here is a list of what I think are the best chick flicks for dudes. Meaning movies that are decent and or funny enough to watch without a chick. Hopefully I don't get made fun of too much for this one.

1). He's Just Not That Into You - I don't know why, but I love this movie. It breaks down several different aspects of relationships into 2 hours of film. And I totally was the Ginnifer Goodwin character always wondering if she was going to call and or analyzing every little detail which is sad I know but true nonetheless. My friends even gave me the book when I had a rough break up with a girl except they changed the name to SHE'S just not that into you. Anyways, good flick. Watch it.

2). Love Actually - This is a great film all around and has good acting, great interweaving stories and good ending. If you haven't checked this one out....watch it.

3). Mean Girls - Back when Lindsay Lohan was attractive and sane, she did this movie and it was freaking hilarious. Cmon, it was written by Tina Fey and some SNL guys in there. Hot chicks and comedy.....watch it.

4). Pretty Woman - A 1990's Julia Roberts playing a hooker....nuff said, watch it.

5). The Proposal - Went to go see it with my wife and actually liked it more than I thought I would. Some really funny parts along with some decent stuff from Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Watch it.

So that's my Top 5. If you don't like....guess what its my list. Feel free to leave your list in the comments if you want.......yes indeed.

Top 5 Underrated Movies

So here a list of what I think to be the Top 5 Underrated movies of all time. This list is flexible, so leave comments and if the movie makes the cut, I will edit the list. But only if the movie makes the cut....after all....its my list.

1). Dazed and Confused - This movie is so good and I don't think it got enough play. The movie itself is awesome in so many ways and has so many awesome parts. Too much to go into detail. And by far is Matthew Mcconaughey's best role....watch it.

2). Fanboys - If you like Star Wars then there is no way to not like this movie. This movie is good even if you don't like Star Wars. Which if you don't like Star Wars then your dumb....sorry Jess! God this movie is funny....watch it.

3). Grandma's Boy - I think I laughed the entire movie. Adam Sandler's boys star in this pothead, video game based movie. There are so many lines to repeat and just laugh at. Hilarious....watch it.

4). Just Friends - This movie was in theaters for like 2 weeks but everyone that I talk to say that this movie is so flippin funny. Very quotable movie and very very funny....watch it.

5). Taken - Didn't know how I felt about this one. Liam Neeson? Uh he was rockin the s*** in that one. Bad ass! Watch it.

Honorable Mentions: Funny People - Hancock - Van Wilder - The Professional - The House Bunny - The Benchwarmers - I love You Man - Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Married...

So I just got married. The date was June 19th of 2010. It was the best day of my life. The only other time that I can think of when all those people will be in attendance and all the attention will be on me is when I die. So getting married is a better way to get that attention. I say it was the best day of my life and it really was. I got to marry my best friend, I experienced like 57 different emotions throughout the day and some of which was at the same time. I got to see all of my family and friends. I got to sing, dance, eat, drink and be merry and it was the best feeling in the world. I wouldn't trade the day for anything.

Me and Jess lived together before we got married, even before we got engaged. We have joint bank accounts and are not going to do anything different. The only real difference is that her last name will now become mine (which is kinda cool actually). So there really shouldn't be any different kind of feeling before the 19th and now. But there is. I can't explain it but i do feel different. I'm married and it feels phenomenal. Marriage is not something that I take lightly. I think its a sacred thing, which it is. I only plan to do this once and there is no doubt that I married the right woman for me. She is my everything, my world, my life and now she's my wife. Marriage is awesome and it was the easiest decision that I have ever made in my entire life. So yeah, I feel different. I feel alive. I feel awesome. I feel..... married, and its the best feeling that I've ever had.

500 Days of Summer

I borrowed this movie from a friend and then I had to go out and buy it because I knew it was one that I had to own. I loved everything about this movie. The actors and their performances, the music, the story, and especially the beginning and the end.

The opening of the movie states that this movie is fiction and any similarities are purely coincidence to any persons.....especially you Jenny Beckman....bitch. Now those are not the exact words but you get the idea. But isn't that the best way to start a movie. To indirectly but directly say that this movie is about you and your a bitch! Good good stuff. Now it also says that this movie is not a love story and it actually holds true to that. Its not, because its a story about real life. And 9 times out of 10, the real story is not the version that ends up in the movies. Its always the happy ending with the girl gets the guy or the guy gets the girl, even if one of them does something totally unforgivable. So the movie is true. Its also shot really well. Its keeps going back and forth between the 500 days. And the movies reflects that beautifully.

The main story of the movie is this guy who is looking for love. He the hopeless romantic that's believes in fate and destiny and true love and coincidence doesn't exist because its all part of the plan. He meets this girl who is beautiful and has all of the same interests. But when things get a little too serious between the two of them, she resorts back to never wanting to be somebodies girlfriend and she doesn't want to be a couple. So she says the she doesn't want to be too serious or be a couple but then she confuses the crap out of the guy by holding his hand, snuggling during movies, spending all of her free time with him and having some sex with him. But she's not his girlfriend. Real life is good stuff in movies.

So the movies continues and good situations happen with great dialogue and the perfect ending. Watch this movie. Good good stuff....yes indeed.

The Gospel according to Big Fish

So I recently had surgery and I was off work for about 2 months. And in that time, I watched a lot of movies. And one of the movies I watched was Big Fish. A Tim Burton masterpiece to say the least. But I had a better appreciation for it after I watched it this last time. The movie is filled with these great lines that can actually build some inspiration inside of you. So here are some excerpts from the movie Big Fish:

"Kept in a small bowl, the goldfish will remain small. With more space, the fish will grow double, triple, or quadruple it's size. - It occurred to me then, that perhaps the reason for my growth was that I was intended for larger things. After all, a giant man can't have an ordinary sized life"

"Now there comes a point when a reasonable man will swallow his pride and admit he's made a terrible mistake. The truth is, I was never a reasonable man."

"How you gonna make it without your shoes?" - "Well I suspect it will hurt...a lot."

"That night I reached two conclusions. The first was that a dangerous path is made much worse by darkness. The second is that I was hopelessly and irrevocably lost. These woods would become my graveyard. As difficult as it was to reach Spectre, I was fated to get there eventually. After all, no man can avoid reaching the end of his life. And then I realized, this wasn't the end of my life. - This isn't how I die."

"What happened to your shoes?" - " They kinda got ahead of me"

"Forget it kid, don't waste your time, she's outta your league." - "What do you mean, you don't even know me." - Sure I do, you were hot shit back in Hickville, but here in the real world you got squat! You don't have a plan, you don't have a job, you don't have anything but the clothes on your back. You were a big fish in a small pond but this here is the ocean, and your drowning! Take my advice, go back to Puddleville you'll be happy there. - Now you say I don't have a plan. I'm gonna find that girl and marry her and spend the rest of my life with her. And I don't have a job, but I would if you gave me one. And I may not have much, but I have more determination than any man your likely to meet"

"You become what you always were...a very big fish"

"A man tell his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way, he becomes immortal"

Theres some good stuff in those words. Some inspirational stuff that my friends have said to me in a way. So I think that if everyone lived their lives with a little bit of those words behind them, then that's pretty good.

Number 1 Movie to watch on St. Patrick's Day

The Boondock Saints is the best movie to watch on St. Patrick's Day. Period. I watched it that night and I just thought people should know. So next year, if your looking for something to watch on St. Patrick's Day...watch The Boondock Saints.

P.S.- Has anyone seen the 2nd one?

No Reason At All

You ever have one of those days where you are kind of down and you don't know why? Where your kind of depressed but have no reason to be? It doesn't make any sense. That's how I'm feeling. I had a decent day with no complaints. I even got out of the house for a little while. But for some reason I just feel...down. Almost like that feeling that something really cool is going on but you either weren't invited or decided not to go and now your feeling dumb for missing out. I don't know how to act when I have this feeling. I don't know. Do you ever get that feeling? That feeling where for some reason, you have no reason at all.

Vent

I hate the fact that......

I've had 4 surgeries on my shoulders in the past 3 years.

That I have to do exercises to rehabilitate my shoulder and that I've been doing them for 3 yrs and I still had to have 3 surgeries on one shoulder.

That I had to pay for 3 surgeries without insurance and only one of them worked.

That I still have a 20% chance of dislocating my shoulder again.

That I might need to have a total shoulder replacement somewhere in the next 10-20 yrs.

That I can never play professional baseball. (it wasn't going to happen anyway but it would have been nice to dream, now I can't even do that)

That I will always have to be super careful if I ever want to play a game of basketball, football, baseball.

That I might never be able to play a game of catch with my future children.

That I might never be able to defend myself or others physically without hurting myself to the point where surgery will most likely have to happen.

That I had to leave a job that I loved because certain people were backwards with certain beliefs.

That the job I want I might need to take a pay cut and work two times harder just to live comfortably.

That people feel that they get the better of me and sometimes I can't do anything about it.

I hate certain things and sometimes I just need to vent.

My NEW all time Top 5 movies

Ok, I was looking my blog entries and came across my first one and it was my Top 5 movie list of all time. And I need to make some changes to it because there have been some new ones that came out and my list needs to be updated. So here's my new and improved Top 5 Movies of all time!

1): Good Will Hunting - Has been and will always be my number one!

2): Forgetting Sarah Marshall - I can identify with alot of stuff in this movie. Maybe not the Hawaii part and dating a movie star part but a bunch of other stuff. And he wrote it himself. Good good stuff!

3): Deathproof - I think one of Tarantino's best! Everything was setup so perfectly and they're is some great music in it....right Ellen?

4): The Dark Knight - I saw this movie twice in theaters and it was well worth it. Heath Ledger was phenomenal and the story was original too! Thank God that Christopher Noland came out with the new ones to redeem the Batman movies after Batman Forever and Batman & Robin practically murdered them.
5): Star Wars: Episode III - Most people will say that it doesn't even compare to Empire but the Lightsaber scene at the end was phenomenal and we get to see him turn into Darth Vader...I mean, cmon!

Leave your All time top 5 in the comments!

So I figured some Top 5's might be in order. So here are my Top 5 Zombie movies and Top 5 Vampire movies of all time!

Top 5 Zombie Movies

1): Zombieland - Just watched it and it had everything. Action, comedy, zombie gore, pretty girls, and Bill Murray! Great!

2): Planet Terror - The Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse movie was one of the best. A girl with a machine gun as a leg....cmon....fantastic.

3): Resident Evil 1-3 - I put them all on the list because I think they all added up to some pretty good Zombie movies! And Milla Jovovich is very nice.

4): Shaun of the Dead - This movie was hilarious but it was a pretty decent zombie movie too!

5): I Am Legend - Might not be on everyone else's list but this is my blog and my Top 5 so I think its a Zombie movie so its on the list!

Leave your own Top 5 in the comments! Look at the Top 5 Vampire movies.

Top 5 Vampire Movies

1): From Dusk Til Dawn - Robert Rodriguez nailed it and it was written by Quentin Tarantino. And he was pretty gnarly in it. But George Clooney was the man in this movie!

2): The Lost Boys - Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and some vampires! Great movie!

3): Blade 1-3 - Sweet Kung Fu moves to killing Vampires....awesome!

4): John Carpenter's Vampires - James Woods is great in this. Watch it, its fun!

5): Interview With the Vampire - Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt kill it. Crazy good!

Sorry, but Twilight didn't make the list. I like the movie but for vampires it was a little soft. Cool story but I wanted more gore and killing and stuff. Leave your Top 5 in the comments!

BIG WHISKEY and the GROOGRUX KING

The DAVE MATTHEWS BAND has released thier new album, BIG WHISKEY and the GROOGRUX KING. It is flippin awesome. Get it. The lyrics in this new album are amazing. The music in this album just swings and move ya. Dave said in an interview that this record feels like it did when they made the first couple albums. He also said that if its the last one he makes, its the only one he wants to be remembered for. I mean cmon, rather than Crash or Under the Table and Dreaming? You know its got to be damn good.

Leroi Moore who sadly past away and gave his ghost up last year starts off the album with a beautiful solo. Also, if you let the last song on the album keep playing there is another Sax solo by Leroi. Freakin sweet as hell!

There is not one bad song on this album and the album cover with all the drawings inside with the lyrics is spectacular. Dave actually drew the cover and all the stuff inside. Alot of the stuff from songs are on the cover. You can spend like an hour just groovin to the album and lookin at all the drawings.

So check it out, yes indeed- YUP DUP WUP DOP OOO YAY! yeah right on!

UP

So I haven't been writing anything for a while cause I've been somewhat busy with work. But here goes another one. I saw the movie UP in the 3d not too long ago, and I was blown away. Graphics and imagery and 3d stuff aside, the movie was phenomenal!
Its basically the story of this old guy who loses his wife after I'd say almost like 80 years of being together. They met when they were just little kids and then fell in love and were together every second of their lives (kinda the way love should be if you ask me). And so when she passes on he life is empty. He is supposed to subside to everyone telling him to move out and go into a retirement home. But instead he blows up millions of helium balloons and decides to float his house to a little adventure spot in South America instead. Along the way his meets a boy scout named Russel and some animals as well. (I like a dog named Doug especially).

UP was a great movie. It was adventurous and comical. It was also a great story about love and life. When your life was great with no complaints and you were happy just being with the person you loved the most, what do you do after that? Wither up and just wait, or do you keep looking up and smile because you lived a great life and the person you love the most, has had the adventure of a lifetime with you? I think we are all called to live out our adventures and keep looking UP.......yes indeed!

Top 5 Baseball Movies of All Time

In the light of the baseball season getting me pumped for more baseball. Here is my Top 5 baseball movies of all time.

1: Bull Durham - No question. Its got baseball, sex, drinking, fighting, bad language. Kevin Costner's best role I think. It teaches you baseball, awesome lessons for life and its freakin hilarious. When he hits the bull...c'mon. Awesome flick.

2: The Sandlot - This movie does the same thing as Bull Durham, just in a PG way. It brings you back to your childhood of having fun, getting into trouble and playing baseball. C'mon, when Bennie teaches Smalls how to throw, and catch a baseball...it doesn't get any better. "Just stand there and stick your glove in the air, and I'll take care of it." Good good stuff!

3: Major League - This is a great movie. Even though the final game in the movie is against the Yankee's, its still a great flick. The game at the end of the movie where Serano hits the home run off the curve ball and Ricky Vaughn strikes out the big guy. Ooh and then when Willie Mays Hays steals and gets hit in for the win. Great!

4: Field of Dreams - Not only is this a great baseball movie but I think its one of the only movies that guys will actually admit to crying over. At the end when he asks his dad..."wanna have a catch?" Yup, every time! Great flick.

5: A League of Their Own / The Natural - I still can't make up my mind on this one. After a heated discussion with my good buddy, I put this one as a tie. The Natural to me, is not that good of a baseball movie. Great movie, but as a great baseball movie for the top 5...eh. So I put it as a tie with A League of Their Own. Granted this one is chicks but c'mon...some of the best lines are in this one. "There's no crying in baseball". Or, " Its suppose to be hard. If it wasn't hard everyone would be doing it. The hard, is what makes it great".

Well put your own up there if you disagree...(ahem- Matt, you and D are the only ones who read this anyways) and go Yankees! God I love Baseball!

A Good Way To Start

When is it time to grow up? Do you ever really have to? Can you be an adult and still be able to act like a kid?

Of course, people do it all the time. I never thought I would actually grow up. I never finished college. I 've had 5 jobs within about a year or so. I lived in a small apartment with my cat and never expected to be where I am now. Which is engaged to someone who loves me. Who actually unconditionally loves me. She likes the way I look, the way I talk, the way act, and the things I do. She's proud of me and who I am. That's something I never thought i would be able to have. I've always wanted to get married. I wanted to be with someone who wanted to be with me. I've always been a hopeless romantic. The nice guy who finished last, the guy things happened to but always a little bit later than everyone else and never really in the way you wanted it. The dork who just wanted someone to be a dork with him. I am "The Dawson"!

But now, for whatever reason I found someone who wants to be with me. Who is so sure of it that it has never crossed her mind once to not be with me. How do you measure that kind of love? I've discovered the most beautiful thing in the world. Love. Love is all around if you look for it. Or maybe you don't have to. It found me when I didn't want it. It found me when I wasn't looking for it. It found me, and it was everything I could have hoped it could be and more. Realization came to me in the form of a beautiful woman and when you realize the most important thing, then everything else just kind of flows together. You grow up without losing your innocence. You become an adult while being able to feel just like a kid. You regressivly grow up and the feeling couldn't be any sweeter. God has a plan for everyone and sometimes that plan is great. Sometimes that plan is horrible. I've found myself on many occasions not being on speaking terms with my God. You wonder why me? Or why this way? How is this a good thing? It doesn't make any sense. But then again, it doesn't make any sense that a beautiful woman would love someone that didn't measure up to certain people in the past whatever relationship they may have had. It doesn't make any sense. But it doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter. Cause I'm in love. And that is all that matters to me!

I'm happy. I happy with myself, I'm happy with the world, and whatever bad times are in front of me, she makes it OK. She makes me who I am. I've never been more of who I am than since I've been with her. I get to grow up, because she makes me feel like a kid again! So I guess I'll start growing up. I got the girl in my love story and that's a good way to start.

Humilty lesson No.27

Humility is hard, and easy to forget. You ever forget? It happens to me. Too often. Why is being humble so hard?

It seems the longer time goes on, the harder it is. Its hard to say sorry. Its hard to let things go. People get the better of you and it is the hardest thing to let something go. So you try to rise above. Be the bigger person. That will show them. But if you try to be the bigger person out of spite, then that makes it wrong...right? So ok, get even. But that makes you beneath them. How do you let something go, without being spiteful and without doing something that you believe you shouldn't do? Do the right thing? Whats that? How do you know what the right thing is? What if the people you claim are doing the wrong thing, think that they are doing the right thing? Wouldn't that make what your doing the wrong thing? Does it have to be this hard? If you find out then you let me know.

Me, I'm going to live as I see fit. And their will be those who will not like. But in the arms of a woman, I found my way home. So to the arms of my woman, I will always go. And if I'm old till this oldness has me dying, I hope she'll be by me then. (Dave Matthews)

Zack and Miri make a Porno

Kevin Smith does it again. This time he teams up with Seth Rogen and delivers and raunchy-funny, sex- comedy...and it is glorious! I love this movie. It had everything a funny movie should have. Comedy, nudity, drama, more comedy and more nudity.

Zack and Miri are the best of friends and upon attending their high school reunion, they discover that the old quarterback really does like to get behind guys and snap some balls! And he gets paid royally to do it. They meet his current boy toy hilariously played by Justin Long and they get the idea to make a low budget porno to make some money and pay the rent, and the utilities and their debts. With the help of some new friends, like porn stars Katie Morgan and Traci Lords, they set out to make a porno...Star Whores! And what Kevin Smith movies is good without Jason Mewes who takes a step out of his "Jay" character to play "Lester". Craig Robinson from "The Office" has a great role too as the producer. Mix it all up together and you have genius. Zack and Miri make a Porno is a great film, with a softer love side for the ladies as well. Go see it and you won't be disappointed...yes indeed!

Top 5 Movies for Halloween

My buddy asked me to make this. My Top 5 movies to watch for Halloween. And here we go:

1: Halloween (2007 Rob Zombie version) - Mr Zombie remade this classic horror film and he did a pretty good job. It was more hardcore, more gruesome and more scary. This movie was pretty terrifying. The old 70's version is just as good though but, the newer one is more hardcore, which is what you want in a scary movie.

2: Scream - This movie is a good scary movie. But this one and only this one. The other two don't count. This one is good, they should have stopped with this one. But it is actually pretty good and scary too. If you let go of the movie cliches and the 90's style then your good to go. Hey its Halloween.

3: The Ring - This movie is messed up in so many ways. And it's one of those movies that will stay in your mind for like 2 days and continue to creep you out. That means its good. Yeah this one is kinda messed up.

4: Nightmare on Elm St. - Don't fall asleep because this guy will get you. But you'll have to go to sleep after you watch the movie so your going to be scared. That's good stuff. I mean cmon, its Freddy freakin Krugar, nuff said. Any of these movies are good.

5: Friday the 13th - Technically Jason doesn't show up until the second movie but that's OK. The first one is good. And so are the rest. Well probably only the second one. After that is just gets kinda lame but the first two are very creepy.

Honorable mentions - Saw (the first one and only the first one), Wrong Turn , Halloween H2O , Blair Witch Project , The Grudge

Top 5 Tarantino Flicks

I just watched Deathproof and Kill Bill again and I got on a Tarantino kick. So here are my Top 5 Quentin Tarantino movies: (The ones he wrote and directed)

1: Pulp Fiction - Unbelievable movie. Tarantino at his best. The first 15 minutes of the movie say it all!

2: Deathproof - Oh man, this movie was nasty! The script is phenomenal and the car chase at the end is probably one of the best in movie history. The chicks were great, Kurt Russel was bad ass, and the music was even better!

3: Kill Bill vol. 1 - Uma Thurman can kick some ass. I watched this movie for the first time with my buddy and we thought it was nasty as hell. The story and the fight scene at the end was freakin great!
4: Inglorious Bastards - Oh man, this one was so good. The dialogue was perfect and left me hanging on every word. The violence was beautiful and Christoff Waltz totally deserved the Best Supporting Actor Award for it too! Some people didn't like how it wasn't historically accurate but that's what I like about it. Near perfect movie!

5: Reservoir Dogs - Its true what they say in "Swingers", slow motion makes a scene look even more bad ass. Put some guys walking down the street in matching suits, add some 70's music and put it in slow motion and you got a memorable looking scene. Tarantino's first film put a standard on his other ones. This film is the first of its kind. With intricate story lines and unforgettable dialogue. Classic.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

O man. I saw this movie in theaters when it first came out and I don't think I've ever laughed that hard! And it was just as funny the second time i watched it on DVD. I thought it was going to be funny but not that funny.

The movie stars Jason Segal as Peter. A guy who is dating T.V. star Sarah Marshall played by Kristen Bell. She dumps him so he decides to go to Hawaii on vacation to try to get her out of his mind but low and behold she is there to with her new celebrity boyfriend played by Russel Brand who is freakin hilarious in this movie. From here the movie follows what I think a break up from someone serious is exactly like. (it follows a guys point of view, but it is written so well)

This movie may be funnier than Knocked Up and 40yr Old Virgin. It provides the perfect amount of comedy, real life, and a little drama to make it an awesome movie. Any guy, who has gotten dumped by a girl will love this movie and any girl who likes to laugh will love this movie too! Jason Segal stars and wrote this movie. I like these guys who write their own stuff and put real life (kinda) scenarios in it. The way the girl acts towards the guy is dead on. And the way the guy acts is perfect too. Probably a little funnier than real life but still great. Just watch this movie if you haven't and you will laugh harder than you ever had before. This movie just might get bumped into the top 5.

Run Fatboy Run

This movie was great. I was really excited to see it and I was actually really surprised because I liked it more than I thought I was going to.

The movie stars Simon Pegg as a guy who likes to run away from his problems and his feelings. He leaves his wife at the alter, while pregnant, and is now a security guard at a women's lingerie store. He ex-fiance is now together with some guy who has it all together. He's rich, smart, and athletic. It is because of this guy, that Pegg's character (Dennis) finds out he is still in love with his ex. So to compete with this new guy, he decides to run in a marathon and all he has to do is finish to get the respect from his friends and his ex-love.

Pegg is fantastic in this movie. The humor he adds to a comedy is brilliant and this comedy is brilliant. It is hysterically funny! It has a great love story, and it actually quite inspirational. And I think its directed by Ross from Friends. If you liked "Shaun of the Dead", and "Hot Fuzz", you will love "Run Fatboy Run."

The Love Guru

So I rented this movie the other day. I had low expectations for it because I saw that it got terrible reviews and it wasn't in theaters for very long and it's already out on DVD, but, it wasn't half bad.

Mike Myers is pretty genius at comedy with the characters he comes up with Wayne Campbell from SNL, to Austin Powers and Dr. Evil to now, the Guru Pitka. The movie is definitely good for some laughs. It is not as good as Austin Powers and some of the jokes you have heard before are actually from Austin Powers, but it should put a smile on your face at least once. So rent it one night when you've got nothing to do, put on your pj's, eat some Ben and Jerry's and try to have a good time.

Oh yeah, it also stars Justin Timberlake and he sucks in this one!

Top 5 Worst Movies

1. Batman and Robin - Thank God Christopher Nolan came out with the new Batman Movies to redeem the caped crusader. After this movie with the Governator and Uma Thurman, the Batman name was almost shot. It had horrible acting, a horrible plot, and apparently Batman has every single thing from ultra heaters to a credit card. He doesn't hide his voice and its not hard to tell that Chris O'Donnell is Robin. And Alicia Silverstone should not be Batgirl...there shouldn't even be a Batgirl...or a Robin. I say again, thank God for the new movies.

2. Open Water - The boat leaves them behind in the middle of the ocean by accident. They're stranded, and then they die. It's a two hour movie and they are in the ocean by themselves for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Then they die, it sucks and its just depressing. No thanks.

3. Dreamcatcher - I have no idea what this movie is about. I think aliens are invading the world or they already have something. Then these 4 guys are trying to take a vacation in the mountains when one guy gets abducted, then another gets eaten, then another guy goes to find another friend who is mentally retarded and turns out to be an alien. LAME!

4. Rumor Has It - Jennifer Aniston hooks up with Kevin Costner who turns out to be the actual guy for the story behind "The Graduate". They sleep together so that means Costner has slept with 3 generations of women and Aniston, knowing all this information, sleeps with him anyway. If your a respectable women, would you sleep with someone who has slept with your mother and your grandmother? I didn't think so. And Aniston winds up cheating on her fiance with this guy! And then, she gets mad at him when he won't take her back, but he does and it just goes to show how some women can be just be f***heads!

5. Waiting - I watched this movie, didn't laugh. I worked in a restaurant and watched this movie again, and still didn't laugh. It was kinda gross, and Ryan Reynolds is too good an actor to accept a role where a mid-twenties guys hits on a minor in high school. I though it was going to be good, it looked good, but I hated this movie!

Honorable Mentions: Batman Forever, Open Water 2, Scream 3, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Superhero Movie, Disaster Movie (enough is enough already guys), Semi-Pro, The Happening, Lady in the Water, Shutter.

Pineapple Express

I took a trip on the "Pineapple Express" and it was astonishing! Oh man, this movie had me rollin! Even though i don't smoke pot, it had everything from comedy, to action, to violence, to adventure and great comedic performances to back it up.

The movie stars Seth Rogen (who also co-wrote the movie) as Dale Denton. A process server who smokes a lot of pot provided by his dealer, Saul. Played by James Franco. Denton witnesses a murder and now he and Saul are on the run from Drug Lords.

What I liked about this movie was it was exactly how two regular guys would think and act if they were in a situation like this. But add marijuana to the mix and you've got movie gold. The dialogue was perfect and the performances were equally great. Rogen was hilarious as usual but the true comedic breakout performance was from James Franco. I always thought his acting was kind of lame, what with the Spiderman movies and all but in this movie....he had me dyin!

Pineapple Express is comedy adventure that is awesome from start to finish and is probably the best stoner movie of all time. But you don't have to be high to enjoy it. Actually, I wouldn't recommend it because then you won't appreciate it as much. And if you are going to see it, go at a time when there won't be a lot of people there. We had a lot of potheads in the theater with us and it made the movie less enjoyable. They shouted things out, the kid next to me (who sat right next to me with a whole row open) was chowing down on some big greasy pretzel and laughing like a moron. But anyways, the movie was hilarious! Go see it...yes indeed!

Harold and Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay

I just saw the new Harold and Kumar movie. "Escape from Guantanamo Bay". I'll keep this one short.

The first one was better. Your not missing much if you don't see it. Same jokes, new adventure. Its good for a few laughs but thats about it. It wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be.
(Rob Corddry was pretty hilarious though!)

In Bruges

I recently watched the movie "In Bruges". The movie stars Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Ralph Fiennes. The film didn't last long in theaters but when I saw a preview for it a while back I thought it looked pretty entertaining. I thought it might have been one of those movies that didn't get a lot of attention but if you watched you would love it. Kind of like "Snatch" or "Memento". But after watching it I really wasn't that impressed.

The movie has Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as hit men and they have to spend some time in Bruges (it's in Belgium). They are to wait instructions from their Boss. But going stir crazy with boredom has Farrell's character do things that get him into trouble and Gleeson's character going crazy from Farrell. Farrell screws up a job and that makes the boss angry and Farrell soon finds himself not liking Bruges even more than he thought.

I didn't really care for this movie. I was expecting a witty, funny, upbeat comedy satire like "Snatch" and I found the movie to be more depressing and serious. It was as if the writers didn't know to make it a comedy or a drama and the confusion just made me unsatisfied. However, the dialogue between all the characters was great. And I'm not a big fan of Colin Farrell but he was pretty decent in this one. So watch it if you want, but if you don't your not missing much.

Right Side Up or Upside Down?

How hard is it suppossed to be? How come life is harder for some people than it is for others? How come sometimes, the people who feel like they have a good understanding of life suddenly get their world turned upside down? Or maybe it's just turning right side up after being turned upside down for so long.

People always say, that this person or this experience or this moment has turned my whole world upside down. What if those moments and experiences and those people are the ones that turned it right side up? They were the ones to make sense of your life. Or maybe not. More often then not, a bad experience can turn everything and make it seem like everything is not the way its suppossed to be. Why is my life so hard or why does this have to happen to me? Or what good comes from this? Why am I the one getting my world flipped around when I'm actually doing allright. Go mess with somebody else who needs you!

But what if...those bad experiences, those bad moments and those bad people are the ones to show whatg the good one are. Can you have light without darkness? Good without evil? Are you lighting up the darkness or making it dark where there's light? Everything can have a new perspective if you look at it right side up.

Or maybe you need to look at it upside down.

LeRoi Moore 1961-2008

LeRoi Moore was the saxophonist of the Dave Matthews Band. He died Tuesday, August 19th stemming from complications from a recent motorcycle accident last month. He was only 47.

LeRoi or Roi as Dave would call him was a very shy guy. He always wore sunglasses while performing to help concentrate and I think to kind of hide himself. He was so shy that on one occasion, he did not show up in one of the bands music videos. Yet despite the shyness of his personality, he played a nasty saxophone. The man's playing was just unreal. His jams in songs were anything from relaxing to exciting to just plain beautiful! He was part of the band who's music changed my life. He will always be remembered for the beautiful music that he gave. And he will be missed! Take it easy LeRoi....yes indeed.

Charlie Bartlett

I recently enjoyed watching the movie Charlie Bartlett. A story about a good kid in high school who does bad things to gain popularity and attention. He gets kicked out of every school he attends and all he wants is to be the person people come to for anything and everything.
Newcomer actor Anton Yelchin plays Charlie Bartlett. (Yelchin is pretty impressive in the lead role) His first day at a new school doesn't go so well which sends him straight to the family shrink and finds him easily becoming the recipient of some prescription medication. He quickly learns he can sell these easily obtainable meds to the people who actually need them...the kids that he attends class with. But he gains to much popularity as the new school therapist and soon he finds himself under the watchful eye of the school principal played by Robert Downey Jr. (Who is pretty good in this movie)

Charlie Bartlett is an original movie with a clever script and fine acting. For a day in age where everyone has a problem and every problem has a prescription, a movie that pokes fun at some psychoanalytic bull**** is good stuff. Watch this movie!

Drillbit Taylor

I was referred to this movie by a friend of mine. I originally didn't really have any interest in watching it but I'm glad I did.

Owen Wilson is a homeless veteran who walks the streets begging for cash and getting food whenever he can. He is hired by three kids who keep getting constantly bullied by 2 kids at their high school. But the only problem is that they think he's an actual bodyguard when in fact he knows nothing about protecting people and his plan is to extort as much money from the kids as possible. The movie was actually pretty good. Even though some of the jokes have been used already. The plot was simple and the ending was predictable, it was still a movie worth watching. Owen Wilson gives a good performance as the lead title character Drillbilt Taylor. The kids he is hired to protect steal the show with some of the best dork performances I've seen. The overweight kid in particular had me rollin!

Drillbit Taylor is an hysterical movie with supporting actors who steal the show. So check it out.

Fool's Gold

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey team up again in the movie Fool's Gold. This is the first time teaming up since How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. McConaughey is a very well actor (A Time To Kill) and Hudson is definitely good (Almost Famous). But even though the two are accomplished actors, and the acting is good, the movie itself is....eh.

We find the two getting divorced at the start of the movie. Hudson can't stand to be married any longer to McConaughey who is spontaneous, free livin kind of guy. McConaughey is looking for a lost treasure that has been lost by some guy 2oo years ago and winds up dragging in everyone around him to try to get. Meanwhile, a rapper who owns an island where the treasure happens to be located is trying to kill McConaughey and get the treasure for himself. And its a finder's keeper's kinda deal with guns and not so good humor.

If I were you, I would wait till this one comes to cable. While the acting and chemistry by the lead roles are good, the story itself is lame. The tale of the treasure is impossible to follow and how it came to be where it is. McConaughey is in debt to this rapper who owns his own island, but we don't why McConaughey owns him anything. And the guy playing the rapper is one of the guys from the Scary Movie films and just can't pull off being scary (he knows how to fly a plane too!). The movie would be a lot better if they kept it more simple, explained things in a way that made sense, and had a bad guy that actually seemed bad.

With OK acting and confusing interacting story, I give Fool's Gold a "eh it's alright".

Kieth's Top 5 Movie Villains

1: Darth Vader - No person has ever looked better in a mask. You recognize his breathing anywhere and his deep voice allows for an intimidating encounter. He uses the force for evil and can dominate with a light saber...bad ass!

2: The Joker (2008 version) - Heath Ledger pulled off an unbelievable performance outdoing what Jack Nicholson so brilliantly did in 89'. The new Joker is evil in a way you want evil to be. He is dark and wants everyone to watch him destroy humanity. He is a step ahead of the competition and enjoys what he does. His masochistic mentality allows him to never be stopped. In the movie he can also kick some ass!

3: Hannibal Lechter - "Hannibal the Cannibal". Whats more evil than eating people? Not much! He can hold his own in a one on one and rip your life apart just meeting you. He's highly intelligent and psychopathic which, like The Joker, makes for a brilliant combination!

4: Michael Myers (Halloween) - This mammoth of a man puts on what originally is a William Shatner mask and goes and kills people. He kills his family, he kills random people, he kills animals. He kills pretty much anything he wants. He doesn't talk which makes for a scarier effect and walks to some pretty frightening music! He is humongous, strong, crazy, and mute which is just nasty! ( Portrayed the best in the 2007 Rob Zombie version! )

5: Anton Chigurh ( No Country For Old Men ) - He's soft spoken but driven with a purpose. He'll kill you just for inconveniencing you. Ask him the wrong question or say the wrong thing and your life could come down to a coin toss. Pretty hardcore if you ask me. And he'll can kill you a hundred different ways but the best has to be the oxygen tank shot of air to the head....nasty!

No Country For Old Men

I found myself buying the most praised about movie of last year, "No Country For Old Men". This film won several awards including Best Picture, Best Director(s), and Best Supporting Actor. I was confused about the story and the ending the first time I watched it. But I still wanted to have it apart of my collection. Once watching it again I better appreciated it and it's character's.

I identified with all 3 main characters. The man trying to take the money and run. The man trying to get the money back and the man trying to keep the peace and make sense of the whole situation. Josh Brolin gives a very good performance as Llewelyn Moss and Tommy Lee Jones gives a surprisingly good performance as Sheriff Ed Tom Bell. (Jones' really has only given 2 good performances before this movie with "The Fugitive" and "Men in Black".) But the breakthrough performance goes to Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh. He plays a sadistic killer perfectly. The kind of guy who can kill you for looking at him the wrong way and he won't feel any remorse by it. He'll kill you and maintain his composure. He's crazy but not stupid. The way he talks, walks, thinks and acts gave me chills and I found myself once again rooting for the bad guy. Mainly because the bad guy in this particular case seems to be the one thing you remember most about the movie. The scene that steals the movie is when Bardem's character is trying to pay for gas when the attendant makes smalltalk about the weather. That's when Bardem's character switches into crazy mode and the guy walks away with his life because he won a coin toss. That's pretty bad ass if you ask me. Bardem's character is such a good villain, and Bardem plays him so well that he makes it into my Top 5 list of movie villains of all time.

"No Country For Old Men" is a solid movie that forces you to pay attention. What the movies lacks in speed it makes up for with anticipation. Great character's with great performances gave this movie the credit it deserved and should be watched by all.

The Best Dance Movie There Is?

Footloose. Is Footloose the best dance movie there is? Now a days, there are dance movies coming out the wazoo. Save the last dance, Step Up, Step Up 2, How She Move, etc. Dancing isn't dancing anymore its become something a little more....dumb.

In my opinion there are only three dance movies and that's it. Footloose, Flashdance, and Dirty Dancing. Those are the ones that all the new dance movies should get compared to. Since each movie was made in the 80's, each movie has a certain degree of corniness. But as corny as they are, they still are praised more than the dance movies today. The movies today deal with "Oh no, I need to dance cause that's all I can do." I mean in that Save the Last Dance movie the sister of the main character had a baby but yet she is going out every night dancing at the club. I mean that's just not even good parenting. But yet dancing seems to be more important. These dance movies are all the same and the only difference is what "ringtone rap" song they are dancing to. Maybe it wouldn't be a problem if the kids watching these movies knew where these stories came from. They all stem from the 3 dance movies of the 80's.

In Dirty Dancing, a young girl goes to a summer resort with her family and discovers a whole new world of unconventional dancing. She learns the style and in doing so she falls in love with her instructor and discovers herself along they way. There is style 1.

In Flashdance, a young striving dancer wants to make it big so she practices and makes her way to the top. But during the movie she carries her own weight. She works two jobs and makes it all her own. (This movie also has one of the most sexiest scenes in it when she takes her bra off underneath her shirt while she's talking to a guy). There is style 2.

Finally in Footloose, a young man moves to a small town from the big city and finds out that dancing is illegal. It's him against the world when he wants to have a dance and he brings the best out in people throughout the movie. Style 3. And is Footloose the best? As cheesy as it is throughout and for the fact that no one is allowed to dance during the movie and then at the end, everyone is a good dancer, it is a great movie. Possibly, the best dance movie. Kevin Bacon has to fight off a whole town and wins. Great stuff!

I think the thing that bothers me the most is younger kids now a days have no clue about these movies. They have no idea that this is where all the ideas stem from but I guess that is the case with a lot of things these days. I think everyone should watch Footloose and get lost in the cheesiness. Have fun with 80's style and just have a good time.
