Footloose vs Footloose

Vs.

So my wife and I saw the new Footloose movie last night. We were both pretty hesitant because we're huge fans of the first one. I mean it's Kevin Bacon. Why would you remake this movie? So since we are such big fans, we felt obligated to see the new one. And I got to tell ya, it was awesome!

Now right away, I want to say that it is not better than the first one. I mean the first one is the original but it's not about one being better than the other. It was a decent remake. I was expecting a lot worse but it was really a lot of fun to watch. The acting was good, the story received a little tweaks but they weren't bad tweaks. They meshed well with the original story. The dancing also received an update, as to be expected but again, it made for a fun movie. I was really impressed. It was also pretty funny. An relatively unknown actor named Miles Teller played Willard and he almost stole the show with some of lines and delivery. Kenny Wormald played Kevin Bacon, I mean Ren. But he did a pretty good job as well. Julianne Hough played Ariel and she almost did a better job than Lori Singer who played the part in 84'. A must better dancer at least. My only disappointment was that Kevin Bacon didn't make a cameo. That would have been awesome.

Overall, it was a good good movie. If your a fan of the 1984 original, watch the new Footloose, and be prepared to have a good time. Cut loose.....yes indeed!

The Yes Indeed Papers Salute...

Timothy Olyphant

Timothy Olyphant is my October pick for the under appreciated actor. He's had some great roles so far and I'm sure will have some great roles in the future. He also plays great villain, like his roles in The Girl Next Door and Live Free or Die Hard. It was only a matter of time before he became the lead actor in a movie, and he was awesome in Hitman. The reason he is my pick for the under appreciated actor is if you mention his name, most people don't know him. But if I show them a picture or something like that, they recognize him right away. I love watching him. Here are some of his more memorable roles.

  • Scream 2

  • Gone in 60 Seconds

  • Rock Star

  • Dreamcatcher

  • The Girl Next Door

  • Catch and Release

  • Live Free or Die Hard

  • Hitman

  • A Perfect Getaway

  • The Crazies

  • Elektra Luxx

  • I Am Number Four

  • Justified (TV series)

Timothy Olyphant is an awesome actor who doesn't get enough credit. He kills it in every role he's in. People need to recognize how good this guy is. Timothy Olyphant has some good good stuff. So from all of us here at The Yes Indeed Papers (and by all of us I mean just me), Timothy Olyphant, we salute you! Yes indeed.

Top 5 Upcoming Actors / Actresses

This entry is long overdue. I'll always watch a movie and get blown away by a specific performance and I get really excited about future roles. So I've decided to share my thoughts and say who I think will have huge movie careers and have fantastic upcoming movie roles.

So here are what I think are the Top 5 Upcoming Actors and Actresses.

1). Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Probably my favorite actor at this time. I am so excited to see 50/50. He made a huge impression on audiences in A River Runs Through It. Gave us a ton of laughter with 3rd Rock From the Sun and got the girl in 10 Things I hate About You. But it was his performances in 500 Days of Summer and Inception that made him a household name. He's freakin awesome! I'm making a prediction that he will win an Oscar at some point in his career.

2). Michael Fassbender - This guy's got it. The look, the skills, he's kills it in every performance. He made his mark in Inglorious Bastards and was nasty as Magneto in Xmen: First Class. Fassbender is a good actor. Probably the first to win an Oscar on this list.

3). Tom Hardy - This guy's good. He was unbelievable in Bronson, which caused Christopher Nolan to cast him in Inception. And that's definitely not a bad relationship to have. I can't wait to see him kick some ass in The Dark Knight Rises! Another future Oscar I think.

4). Bryce Dallas Howard - I love her! She made the movie The Village, was the only reason Lady in the Water was watchable and was kick ass in Terminator Salvation. She can play almost any role. Both good and evil. She was sweet in The Help as Hilly Holbrook. She gonna turn some heads in the future. Oscar winner within 10 years.....probably. But would you expect anything less from the daughter of Ron Howard.

5). Chloe Moretz - If you've seen Kick Ass, you know why she's on the list. Nuff said. This girl's gonna be huge! And she was hilarious as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's little sister in 500 Days of Summer. Huge career.....huge. Oscar winner, definitely.

So that's my list. These actors and actresses will be have huge careers. Just watch. These people are awesome and I can't wait to see what they're gonna do in the future. Yes indeed.

Honorable Mentions: Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Bailee Madison (Just Go With It)

Dave Song of the Month...

Ants Marching

He wakes up in the morning

Does his teeth bite to eat an he's rolling

Never changes a thing

The week end, the week begins

She thinks, we look at each other

Wondering what the other is thinking

But we never say a thing

These crimes between us grow deeper

Goes to visit his mommy

She feeds him well his concerns

He forgets them

And remembers being small

Playing under the table and dreaming

Take these chances

Place them in a box until a quieter time

Lights down, you up and die

Driving in on this highway

All these cars and upon the sidewalk

People in every direction

No words exchanged

No time to exchange

And all the little ants are marching

Red and black antennas waiving

They all do it the same

They all do it the same way

Candyman teasing the thoughts of a

Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss

Programs cutting the corners

Loose end, loose end, cut, cut

On the fence, could not to offend

Cut, cut, cut, cut

Take these chances

Place them in a box until a quieter time

Lights down, you up and die

Scream 4

So I watched Scream 4 last night, and I actually really liked it. It was right up there with the first one. Scream 2 and Scream 3 were kinda lacking a lot in story. However 4 was actually pretty good.

Kevin Williamson took a stab at this one and really delivered. Good character development along with a decent story made this a good scary movie. These types of movies are more jumpy than scary but what makes this a good movie is the mystery of it all. Scary movies with zombies, vampires, or a killer like Michael Myers are scary but there's no mystery. You know who the killer is right away, and don't really care why their killing. With Scream, you find yourself guessing the entire time as to who the killer is. It really makes for an enjoyable movie experience. I took 2 guesses as to who the killer was and I was wrong both times.

Also, with Kevin Williamson, your promised a lot of movie references and some corny but fun scary moments. I really think that he delivered this time. A good story with bad language and an R rating makes this a decent flick. Scream 4 also has one of the better Scream endings than the previous two films.

If you want a fun scary movie for Halloween time, Scream 4 is a good pick. Yes indeed.

Win Win

I borrowed this movie from a friend who told me that this was a good movie. Actually, I was told by a few different people that this was a good movie. So I watched it.......and I like it.......a lot!

This is a very simple story of a family man played by Paul Giamatti who owns his own law practice. And everyday discovers that life is not hard.....it's really freaking hard. Everyday has no challenges and new problems and more importantly, and each problem has a dollar sign next to it. He then comes upon a kid who is the grandson of a guy that is not only his client, but who he just became the guardian of. The grandfather that is. He lets the kid stay with him until he can go back to his mom. But the kid doesn't want to go back to his mom. So Giamatti takes the kid in and discovers that the kid is incredible at wrestling. Doesn't sound like a good plot.....sounds kinda boring actually. It looks like one of those movies where if you watch the preview, you feel like you already know how the movie's gonna go. However, after watching it, I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised. At least I was.

This is a really really good movie. It's very simple, and it's it's got a real life, great ending. Great acting on top of it all makes this a remarkable movie. It will definitely will surprise you, if you give it a chance. Anyways, check it out if you want......which you should.....yes indeed.
