Bridesmaids

Let me just start out by saying, that this movie is the funniest movie that I've seen so far this year. Actually, it's one of the funniest I've seen since in years.

Kristen Wiig becomes the maid of honor for her friend Maya Rudolph. Wiig, doesn't have a good grasp on the whole maid of honor thing, and just keeps putting herself in situations that make for an awesome comedy. Some guys might think that this would be a not-so-funny chick-flick but it's not at all. It's Rated R which automatically makes for a good comedy. It's raunchy, goofy, and unbelievably funny. I would rank this movie up there with comedies like, Wedding Crashers, Knocked Up, and The Hangover. Kristen Wiig is also one of the writers. One of the best things about this movie is that every funny moment of this movie, just keeps going. Every funny scene lasts for a good while. And do that throughout the whole movie, and your just laughing the entire time.

Bridesmaids is awesome. Watch this movie...Yes Indeed!

The Hangover: Part 2

So I just watched The Hangover 2. I laughed out loud more times than I can count. However, I was a little disappointed.

While the Hangover 2 was a really funny movie, it definitely wasn't as funny as the first one. It also lacked some creativity when it came to the story. It literally followed the same plot points as the first one, almost exactly. The only difference being that everything is in Thailand. I guess I was just expecting a little more. There is even a song by Ed Helms like the one he did in the first one. It was almost disappointing that it was the same movie, just different location. Also, if my friends did any of the crap that these guys did, I probably wouldn't be friends with them anymore, but whatever. It still is a really funny movie though, so don't think I'm just bashing it. There were some parts of the movie that had me rolling! It is pretty hilarious. Ed Helms, gets a tattoo on his face, Bradley Cooper gets shot, and Zach Galifianakis gets his head shaved and befriends a monkey. I will admit, that Zach Galifianakis saying that his profession is a "stay-at-home son" was pretty freakin funny.

I definitely recommend watching this movie, just go into it knowing that it is probably not going to make you laugh as much as the first one.

Thor

So my wife needed a couples of hours to herself one night last week to study for a big test for school. So I left the house and I went to go see Thor, and it was awesome.

I didn't know too much about Thor from the comics, but it wasn't hard to figure out. A God who has a hammer and with it he is unstoppable. Next in line for the throne, he becomes too full of himself and gets banished by his father. He winds up on planet Earth and needs to figure out how to get back. Aided by the beautiful Natalie Portman, he must not only figure out how to get back home, but how to obtain his hammer.

This movie was awesome. It was actually a lot funnier than I was expecting, but it was also jam packed with action. It was also cool to see how it tied into the end of Iron Man 2. Thor will become one of the Avengers (due out next year) along with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America. I can't wait for that movie, it's gonna be awesome.

Thor was sweet. Definitely check it out...Yes Indeed!

The Yes Indeed Papers Salute...

If you don't already know, I've decided to give a salute to actors and actress' who don't get enough credit. Last month (and 1st entry) was Brendan Fraser. Some people disagreed with that entry, but it's my blog, so my choice (heh heh). So here is the next entry in...The Yes Indeed Paper Salute....Bill Nighy.

Bill Nighy is a fantastic actor who I think should have a future Oscar nod at some point in his career. He has been in over 100 productions in his career but really has only been recognized since 2003. Here are some of his more popular roles.

  • Love Actually

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

  • Underworld

  • Shaun of the Dead

  • Wild Target

  • Rango (voice)

  • Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

Nighy has a way of delivering his lines that make you listen. He's also a pretty good comedy actor. Personally, I think he plays a better villain than anything else but that's just my opinion. Nighy is fantastic in everything from his delivery to his screen presence. Check out any of the fore mentioned movies. So from all of us here at The Yes Indeed Papers (and by all of us, I mean just me), Bill Nighy...we salute you...Yes Indeed.

A Speech, A Hornet and Love w/ Drugs

So I recently watched a couple of movies, and instead a writing an entry about each one, I'm combining them into one entry. And because I don't have a lot to say about each. And here...we...go.

The King's Speech - A great movie. I would definitely recommend watching this movie based on the true story of King George VI and his speech impediment. He enlists the help of a speech therapist and an unlikely friendship begins. Colin Firth gives an unbelievable performance and its easy to see why he won the Oscar for best actor. Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter give great performances as well. If you do decide to watch it, I will give the advice that my friend Ellen gave me. Be wide awake because it's dry. I also don't think it should have won Best Picture or Best Original Screenplay. Best Actor yes, but not the others. But it's definitely worth watching.

The Green Hornet - This is a really funny movie. It could have been better but it was still really good. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script for this remake of the old TV series. They did do it justice. The Green Hornet gets all the credit for all the hard work that Kato does. They made it a comedy and it was a funny movie. Definitely worth watching. Don't get your hopes up too much because it could have been better.

Love and Other Drugs - This movie surprised me. I thought it was going to be a regular love story movie and there was a lot more depth to it. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway start a shaky relationship that neither one want to make serious and they wind up starting something that neither one are prepared for. It's a really good love story movie. Just make sure any little kids and your mothers are not watching with you because there is a lot of sex and Anne Hathaway shows all. Who-da-thunk right?

So there it is. Some good movies to check out. Leave comments if you did or did not like them if you want. Yes indeed!
