The Fighter

So I just watched it, and it was great. I won't talk too much about it because my buddy already did this one too (www.prodestjunkie.blogspot.com), but it was great!

I didn't know too much about the characters themselves before watching. This story is based on a true story of Mickey Ward and his brother Dickie Ecklund. Mark Wahlberg plays Mickey and Christian Bale plays Dickey. Mickey Ward is a struggling boxer trying to make it and keeps getting road blocked by his older brother and trainer Dickey who is constantly caught up with drugs and the law. It follows the two on a journey that makes for a great film. The movie was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture and won two. Christian Bale for Best Supporting Actor, who is phenomenal in this movie, and Melissa Leo for Best Supporting Actress. After watching the movie, it's easy to see why these two won.

The Fighter is a great film with a great cast and unbelievable performances. The entire movie kept me wanting to know what was coming next. I would definitely recommend it. Yes Indeed!

The Yes Indeed Papers Salute...

So I've decided to start a new entry every once and a while. It's a salute to under appreciated actors and actresses. Those who are really good in movies but have never won an Oscar or any other major award. So here is the first of many, the first actor to get a Yes Indeed from the Papers is...

Brendan Fraser

Brendan Fraser has been in a bunch of movies and is a good actor. He has played very goofy roles, funny roles, serious roles and tough guy roles. He has been in some really good movies and killed it in each one, and I don't think he gets enough credit for being a good actor. Here are some of what I think are his best roles. (not in order)

-The Mummy
-The Mummy Returns
-The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
-Encino Man
-Bedazzled
-School Ties
-George of the Jungle
-Crash
-Airheads
-The Scout
-Blast From the Past
-With Honors

Brendan Fraser is indeed a good actor who doesn't get enough credit. Check out some of his movies, it's some good good stuff. So from all of us here at the Yes Indeed Papers, (and by all of us, I mean just me), Brendan Fraser...we salute you...Yes Indeed.

Top 5 Val Kilmer Movies

So I was watching Tombstone the other day, and I watched Val Kilmer kill it as "Doc Holliday". And then I was wondering...what the hell happened to Val Kilmer? He was awesome in the late 80's and early 90's, but not so much now. He kind of went downhill once he did Batman Forever. But never-the-less, Val Kilmer was the man back in the day. So here are what I think are the Top 5 Val Kilmer movies.

1) - Tombstone - Doc Holliday - No question. He made this movie even more bad ass. "I'll be your huckleberry". Awesome!

2) - The Doors - Jim Morrison - If you watch this movie, you kind of forget that Kilmer is the actor portraying Morrison. He was spot on.

3) - Willow - Madmartigan - Probably not in everyone else's list. But its in mine. He was funny and kicked some ass!

4) - Top Gun - Iceman - A cocky, arrogant fighter pilot who didn't like Tom Cruise. Nice! He is the reason by the way I will bite down in someone else's direction in order show aggression.

5) - Heat - Chris Shiherlis - A small role but very effective. That supporting guy who was always on point and could kill you at the drop of a dime.

So there it is. An obscure list but fun. let me know if there are any others. Yes indeed.

Black Swan

So I recently watched Black Swan. I won't go too much into detail because my friend already did it. (proudestjunkie.blogspot.com) But I did want to touch on it a little.

Black Swan is a dark movie about an obsessed ballerina played by Natalie Portman who desperately wants the lead role in her NYC Ballet production of Swan Lake. In order to get the role, she must go deep within herself and bring out something she doesn't possess in order to capture the essence of the Black Swan. The movie is a constant battle between herself, essentially what the ballet is. A white swan, and a black swan. Natalie Portman gives a brilliant performance and shows you exactly why she won for Best Actress. Now in order to watch this movie, you have to appreciate drama roles, along with some little inserts of a girl slowly losing her mind. Black Swan is Rated R and for good reason. There is bad language, sex scenes and some weird/scary images. So make sure your in the right mood before you watch it but definitely check it out. It is worth the view! It's the kind of movie that keeps you glued all the way to the end, and the last 20 minutes are phenomenal!

Natalie Portman... Black Swan...Yes Indeed!
