Opportunities

In a thought process while reading a friend's latest blog entry, I am reminded that opportunities will always present themselves. There is an expression...."According to Plan".... and life never goes according to plan. Letting go and trying to remember that God is in charge. This allows us to surrender ourselves and experience everything. The good and the bad. But when things go bad (and they will) how do we get through it without getting mad at who's in charge.

For this, there is no answer, just ideas. One idea is that from the movie "Evan Almighty". That life is basically just a series of opportunities. If you pray for courage, does God give you courage or opportunities to be courageous? If you pray for strength, does God give you strength or opportunities to be strong? If you pray for things to be less hectic, does God give relaxation or an opportunity to be patient? If you pray to be less angry about life, does God make you calm or give you an opportunity to be peaceful? And that's the beauty of it. We get to choose. We have the choice to jump at any opportunity that comes our way. That's the plan. (Yup Dop PC)

Funny the Way It Is

"Funny the way it is, if you think about it, somebodies goin hungry someone else is eating out".

"Funny the way it is, not right or wrong. On a soldier's last breath, his babies being born."

"Funny the way it is, not right or wrong, somebodies broken heart can become your favorite song."

"Funny the way it is, if you think about it, one kid walks 10 miles to school, another droppin out"

Top 5 Movies That Are Better The Second Time You Watch Them

Sometimes when you watch movies, they aren't what you expected. Mostly this applies with comedies but then you watch it again and its better than the first viewing. So here's a tentative list of what I think are the Top 5 movies that are better the second time you watch it. Remember that this is a tentative list so it may keep updating.

1) - Anchorman - I saw this movie in theaters when it came out, and didn't laugh hardly at all. But then of course after viewing it again. It is of course one of the funniest movies ever. "I'm in a glass case of emotion." "I would like to send you and invitation to the pants party" "I don't know what we're yelling about" "When are we on? 3? 3 minutes?....we're on right now?....I don't believe you" "Loud noises"

2) - Funny People - So this movie wasn't as funny as everyone thought it would be. With a movie called Funny People written by Judd Apatow starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen would be hysterically funny. But its more serious actually. But it's a really good movie that people should give a second chance.

3) - Couples Retreat - Thought this one was going to be a lot funnier when I saw it. Left the theater a little dissatisfied. But then I bought it (cause that's what I do ) and its definitely better the second time. Good good stuff.

4) - Baby Mama - Tina Fey, Amy Poehler....nuff said, watch it again.

5) - I Love You, Man - I will admit, that it wasn't as funny as I wanted it to be the first time. But sure enough, the second time you watch it, hilarious! Jason Segal and Paul Rudd are hysterical.

Honorable Mention - Dan in Real Life, The Prestige, Yes Man, Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs

So there's my list and it's subject to change. Yes indeed...

Solsbury Hill

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing Stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
(I) Just had to trust imagination
My heart going BOOM BOOM BOOM
"Son," he said, "Grab your things I've come to take you home

To keepin' silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Tho' my life was in a rut
Til I thought of what I'd say
And which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going BOOM BOOM BOOM
"Hey" he said, "Grab your things I've come to take you home

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going BOOM BOOM BOOM
"Hey" I said, "You can keep my things they've come to take me home."
